Our philosophy is based on Dr. Howard Gardner’s acclaimed theory of Multiple Intelligences, which teaches that every child has their own unique perspective when it comes to viewing, learning about, and responding to life and that education works best when these differences are taken into consideration.
Providing multiple opportunities for cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and linguistic development, our toddler, twos, and pre-kindergarten curriculums, along with a daily schedule, provide a balance of emergent, teacher-directed activities each day.
As part of our commitment to education, we also recognize the importance of play and provide children with activities that facilitate learning. Throughout the Pre-K program, children are offered a variety of enrichment learning programs, including Spanish, Life/Animal Science, Sign Language, Math, Computers, and Life Skills lessons in small groups.
Our belief is that reading unlocks the door to success. It is essential for children to learn the sound patterns of spoken language through reading, which contributes to the development of Phonological awareness.
We read books that are designed to provide children with a positive experience of preliminary reading. It helps kids get used to handling books, displaying their awareness and recognition of book conventions like left to right progression of print; the difference between words and letters; clues about when sentences begin or end; the fact that print (not pictured) contains the meaning of a story; book features (back and front covers, page numbers, names of authors and illustrators); literacy forms (themes, plots, settings, characters, etc.).
Reading books help children learn alphabetic knowledge, listening and speaking skills, word recognition, and vocabulary as part of a systematic early literacy program.
